Shelli and Carson first met at SIU in Carbondale, Illinois. Shelli was a senior at SIUC and Carson was visiting for a work project. They had a met at breakfast and started talking and dating shortly after that. Before long they became more and more serious, and soon Carson decided to move to Chicago to be with Shelli. Carson knew Shelli was the one and planned a romantic proposal in Colorado. He took her hiking at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs and surprised her with a stay at her favorite hotel, The Broadmoor. On the way to dinner Carson stopped on the bridge overlooking the mountains and got down on one knee to propose, with their families all there to join in the celebration. Their romantic love story so sweetly describes this couple that only has eyes for one another, two souls that were clearly destined to be together.
Shelli had a big dress emergency just a few weeks before her wedding date, and had to scramble to find something new. The stress of shopping at the last minute for a gown would be almost too much for some brides to handle, but Shelli took it in stride and found something even more gorgeous than before. Her dress, by Demetrios, looked like it was made for her - covered in delicate lace detailing with elegant long sleeves, it was the perfect gown for Shelli. After her mother and grandmother helped her get dressed, her bridesmaids all gasped when they saw Shelli for the first time.
Shell carried a picture of her late father on her bouquet, so that he could be there with her as she walked down the aisle. It was such a beautiful tribute.
Carson got ready with his closest friends just down the road. As they waited for the girls to arrive, they found time for a few epic group photos.
When the trolley arrived with Shelli and her bridesmaids, Carson waited nervously just out of sight. His reaction when he first saw his stunning bride was so sweet and perfect, I just love the way these two look at each other.
We took wedding party photos at the beautiful Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg. The unique trees and waterscapes make for such gorgeous backdrops.
Soon it was time to get ready for their ceremony, set at Immanuel United Church of Christ, the most charming little white wedding chapel. The ceremony was beautiful and emotional, filled with meaning for Shelli and Carson as they began their married lives together.
When we arrived at The Seville, every detail had been carefully considered to create the perfect reception. Shelli's step-father owns The Seville, and they put on an incredible party in honor of the new Mr. and Mrs. Simms.
Shelli and Carson's romantic first dance was set to Ed Sheeran's amazing cover of Rihanna's "We Found Love" - this might just be my new favorite song...
During dinner guests were treated to beautiful and heartfelt toasts in honor of Shelli and Carson.
Shelli's brother stepped in once again to dance with his sister in their father's place. There wasn't a dry eye in the ballroom as these two held each other in honor of their dad.
Afterwards the dance floor was packed, it was such a fun night of celebrating an amazing couple.
Thank you, Shelli and Carson, for treating us like family and sharing this unforgettable day with us. We love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
