Christie and Nate's love story feels a lot like the plot for a charming romantic comedy. She is Canadian, he is American. They both love dogs and believe in training them to reach their full potential. When Christie brought her dog Charlie to the Knowles Dog Training center in Grafton, Wisconsin, she met Nate, who was there working with his dog Bentley. Bonding over their puppies brought Christie and Nate together, and soon they moved in together and adopted a new family member, Maverick. When it was Maverick's turn to be trained at Knowles, Nate proposed there to Christie and the rest is history.
A few weeks before their wedding, I traveled north to Cedarburg, Wisconsin to meet Christie and Nate and take their engagement photos. I was so happy they brought the whole family along! Their dogs are amazing, they listened better than most of the toddlers that I photograph!
When their big day arrived the dogs were left with a sitter so that Christie and Nate could be fully present for their wedding. Christie was bubbling over with excitement, she couldn't wait to see her groom.
The wedding was held at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, a beautiful church perched on a hilltop in Grafton. The interior made for a perfect backdrop for their traditional and emotional ceremony. Nate's expression when he first saw Christie was just perfect, I love having the opportunity to photograph such beautiful moments.
After the ceremony, we headed out to Wisconsin's only remaining covered bridge for family and wedding party photos. It was such a gorgeous location, I could have stayed and taken pictures there all day...
Afterwards we headed to downtown Cedarburg, the quaint historical town made the perfect backdrop for pictures with the wedding party and some romantic shots of Christie and Nate.
When we arrived at the venue, the amazing parachute that Nate had hung from the ceiling transformed the room into a magical space.
The dance floor was completely epic, Christie had some SERIOUS dance moves...
As a special treat for their guests, Christie and Nate brought in a family-operated pretzel making operation. They spent hours hand-forming the gorgeously fluffy pretzels, baking them on-site, and then serving them with love to the wedding guests. I nearly died when I took my first bite, it was definitely the best pretzel EVER.
As the dance floor powered on we took a few quiet moments for Christie and Nate to rest together. These twinkling lanterns made the venue parking lot feel absolutely magical.
Thank you, Christie and Nate, for inviting us to share in this beautiful day with you. We wish you a lifetime of joy and beautiful memories together. XO
