Liz and Eric had dreamed of a destination wedding - a simple celebration on the beach where they could party afterwards with friends and family. But the universe had a different plan for them and they ended up planning the perfect day at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. Even though their wedding was in land-locked Illinois, they most definitely brought the laid-back beach vibe to their party, and it was one for the ages.
Liz and her girlfriends started their day at the lovely Chicago Marriott in Naperville. Her dress was stunning, dripping in hand-made lace with the softest mint underlay. It looked like it was made for Liz, and I nearly died when her mom slapped her rear and said "look at her ass! You could bounce a quarter off of it!"
Eric looked incredibly cool and collected in his navy suit, he totally rocked the no-tie look. When we arrived at the Morton Arboretum Eric and Liz met each other along a garden path. I love every first look - that moment when a couple sees each other is always so unforgettable - but I am particularly partial to those moments when a couple laughs together in anticipation of their wedding. Eric most definitely appreciated the view when he first saw his gorgeous bride...
After their first look, we took a quick sip of champagne to celebrate. Liz, seriously, I love you...
The bouquets were so beautiful even the bumblebees wanted a closer look! Floral perfection by Walden Floral
The ceremony took place on the same grounds where my husband and I took our wedding photos 13 long years ago. I completely choked up when I came back into this beautiful space - the trees had grown so much, but even after all of this time I still remember our wedding like it was yesterday. Liz and Eric's ceremony was peaceful and joyful, and included some good-natured ribbing from their good friend who served as the officiant.
After the ceremony we set up for the party in the Ginko Room at the Arboretum. The botanical details added the perfect finishing touch to this beautiful space.
One of our fave former brides Melissa snuck in some home-made Jello shots, making for the most epic reception entrance ever...
After Liz and Eric's romantic first dance, Liz shared the dance floor with her Dad. They danced to "Thunderstruck," and it was EPIC. Her siblings and mom all joined in at the end and kicked off an amazing night of celebration and partying.
Thank you, Liz and Eric, for partying with us, your wedding was SO much fun! We wish we could bottle up the joy from your big day and take it with us on every job. We love you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness together <3
